Resumen
Este trabajo analiza de qué manera se planteó el gobierno provincial la defensa de la región sur bonaerense, y especialmente la zona de Azul y Tapalqué, echando mano a los tres cuerpos militares de que disponía: el ejército regular, los cuerpos de milicias y las fuerzas de los indios amigos, en el marco de la vertiginosa sucesión de acontecimientos bélicos que involucraron a las tropas de los fuertes, los vecinos de los partidos fronterizos, indios amigos asentados en la frontera, indios aliados e indios procedentes del otro lado de la cordillera, en la coyuntura de los años 1836 y 1837.

Thís paper analyses the form that ¡he provincial government assumed the defence of south región of Buenos Aires, specially Azul and Tapalqué zone, vvith the three military forces: regular army, militia and the forces of friend Indians, in the frame of the di/./.y succession of military events, that included the fort troops, the neighbours of the frontier, friends Indians setlled in frontiers, allied Indians and Indians proceedingof the otheredgeofth e mountains, in the years 1836 and 1837.
